You CAN get around the Lansing area on a bicycle more easily. The Tri-County Bicycle Association wants to share these low-traffic routes with you. Even if you had the busy roads to yourself, using these routes would only take you a little longer, and the scenery is nicer.

 

You will find a lot less traffic, slower vehicle speeds, and smoother, cleaner surfaces. Even if you don’t have some place in particular to go, riding these blue and green lines can be a rather pleasant experience. 

You can zoom and scroll around the above interactive map. If you click on a color coded road or trail it will bring up its name.

If you mouse over a POI it will bring up its name, if you click on it more information will come up.

By default “Note” POIs are displayed they are special attention notes to help you navigate in areas that could be tricky. Other POIs are not displayed by default.

At the bottom of the map you can click on the different types of POIs to toggle them on and off.

The color code is.

Blue = Preferred roads - With bike lanes

Green = Preferred roads - Calmer than others

Purple = Multi-use paved trails - Slow down for other users

Orange = Busy connecting roads - Use cautiously

Red = Busy roads - Sometimes OK
