As of Friday, June 29, TCBA is the proud parent of two bike safety billboards in Lansing, urging drivers to “Give Them 5—Keep Them Alive” and showing a silhouette of a car passing a cyclist at 5 feet. Although the State recently passed an amendment to the vehicle code with a three-foot passing requirement, TCBA’s Advocacy Committee decided it was appropriate to encourage drivers to pass at five feet. And the TCBA Board of Directors unanimously agreed.
The billboards—actually 10 X 22-foot “posters” in outdoor advertising jargon—are located on the left side of northbound South Cedar just north of Mt. Hope, and on the right side of southbound MLK just north of Pleasant Grove/Edgewood and the I-96 interchange. They will be up for about a month. Some 130,000 views or “impressions” per week are expected in these prime locations.
Adams Outdoor Advertising generously offered to post our graphics at cost, as they do for other non-profit organizations. Our thanks to them. Special thanks also to the Kalamazoo Bicycle Club for the concept and graphic, and to Ann Siegle for her invaluable help with the technical aspects of creating the digital graphic to meet Adams’ specifications.
The advocacy committee has another bike safety graphic ready, and we will pursue Adams’ agreement to post it in the near future.
The June membership meeting will be the Annual DALMAC Meeting.
There will be no membership meeting in July, August, November or December.

Welcome to Tri-County Bicycle Association!
Tri-County Bicycle Association has served bicyclists in mid-Michigan since 1972. Notably, TCBA volunteers make possible the Dick Allen Lansing to MACkinaw (DALMAC) tour. Annually on Labor Day weekend, more than 2000 participants enjoy 4 or 5 days riding their bicycles from Lansing to Mackinaw City (or beyond!). Through the DALMAC Fund, TCBA provides funding to bicycling projects all over Michigan.
The three counties referenced by our name are Ingham, Clinton, and Eaton Counties. While we focus on organized bicycle rides and safety in those counties, we welcome members from anywhere.
TCBA Members enjoy organized rides, ride incentives, and opportunities for volunteering, and have lots of fun riding. We welcome riders of any skill level or interest: road bikes, bike commuters, fat tire winter riders, mountain bikes, recumbent bikes and trikes, you name it... you will find TCBA members who share your passion!
We offer rides nearly every day of the week during riding season... check out the rides listed on the right side of this page -->>>
